Biography

Katsukawa Shunko (1743–1812) was a distinguished Japanese artist of the Edo period, known for his contributions to woodblock printing and painting. Working in the Katsukawa school tradition, he developed his artistic practice in the vibrant cultural environment of Nishi-Asakusa.

Shunko's artistic legacy reflects the refined aesthetic sensibilities of late Edo period Japan, and his works continue to be studied as important examples of the period's visual culture.
