Biography

Иван Дмитриевич Галанин (1817–1873) was a Russian opinion journalist whose writing and commentary shaped public discourse in nineteenth-century Russia. His work as a journalist reflected the intellectual currents and political debates of the mid-nineteenth century during the reign of Alexander II.

Галанин's fifty-six-year life encompassed a dynamic period in Russian journalism and letters. He was interred in Smolenskoye Orthodox Cemetery, a distinguished burial ground for Russian intellectuals, honoring his contributions to Russian journalism and public opinion.
