Biography

Александр Осипович Емельянов was born in 1905 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the principal city of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East. He worked as a storyteller, preserving and sharing the narratives and cultural traditions of his community. His contributions to oral tradition reflected the rich cultural life of Sakhalin during the Soviet era.

Емельянов died in 1953 at the age of 48. He is remembered for his role in maintaining the storytelling traditions of Sakhalin Island, an important cultural contribution to the region's heritage.
