Brewer
Biography
Adolph Coors emigrated from Germany and began brewing in Golden, Colorado, where he founded what became the Coors Brewing Company in 1873, a firm that blended traditional craftsmanship with the abundant waters of the Rocky Mountains. Over more than five decades he guided the brewery through economic ups and downs while remaining intimately involved in the day-to-day operations.
His business success was matched by a dedication to the community, supporting schools and charitable efforts in the Denver region and insisting on a corporate culture of personal responsibility. When he died in 1929, fellow citizens remembered not only an innovative brewer but a man who believed in honest labor and loyal friendships.
