Biography
Adolph Lewisohn (1849–1938) built a prospering enterprise in mining and metal, eventually becoming one of the nation's most respected business leaders. He insisted on ethical dealings and reinvested his success into causes that uplifted his neighbors, fostering educational and cultural institutions around New York.
His philanthropy funded schools, scholarships, and the arts while he remained an engaged friend to cultural organizations; he rests at Salem Fields Cemetery.
