Biography

Afonso, Prince Imperial of Brazil, was born in 1845 as the son of Emperor Pedro II and Empress Teresa Cristina. As heir to the Brazilian throne during the waning years of the Empire, he represented the future of the nation during a period of significant social and political transformation.
