Agostino Borgato

Biography

Agostino Borgato, born in 1871 in Italy, made his way to Hollywood after a distinguished career on European stages and brought with him the gravitas of an old-world performer. Casting directors valued his precise character work, and he appeared in films that needed a strong, dignified presence.

He spent his later years guiding fellow actors and sharing stories of the theaters he loved, and when he died in 1939 he was laid to rest at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where his memory as a bridge between continents endures.
