Biography

Agustín de Iturbide y Green, a grandson of the first emperor of Mexico, spent his life connecting two nations through respectful diplomacy and charity. Raised in the United States, he was mindful of the complicated bonds between his Mexican lineage and the American communities that welcomed his family, and he moved through society with courtesy and an interest in cultural understanding.

He supported educational causes and maintained correspondence with leaders on both sides of the border, hoping to promote peace and remembrance of shared history. His grave in the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church Graveyard invites quiet reflection on a life that bridged families, faiths, and nations.
