Biography
Alexander Chesnokov composed sacred and choral works that comforted souls seeking solace from upheaval, creating music steeped in Orthodox tradition yet resonant with universal humanity. His compositions became cornerstones of liturgical life for many émigré congregations.
He also guided musicians and choristers, ensuring that the treasures of Russian sacred music endured through new challenges. He is laid to rest at Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois Russian Cemetery, where listeners continue to cherish his melodies.
