Biography

Alexander Donelson Coffee entered the world in 1821 and settled in Florence, where he witnessed and participated in the steady rhythms of daily life that sustained that community.

He made a point of encouraging neighbors to look after one another and was known for offering comfort in challenging seasons, a gift remembered by those who knew him when he died in 1901.
