Alexander Monroe Dockery

Biography

Alexander Monroe Dockery rose from modest beginnings to study medicine and then to enter public service, representing Missouri in the United States House of Representatives as he spoke for farming and rural communities in the halls of Washington.

As governor, he guided the state through a time of transition with measured emphasis on rural education, road improvements, and fiscal responsibility, and when he passed in 1926 his stewardship remained a model of balanced leadership at Edgewood Cemetery.
