Alexandre Bigot
1862–1927 (age 65)
Biography
Alexandre Bigot trained as a chemist before turning to ceramics, founding a workshop that became synonymous with the glazed terracotta façades of Art Nouveau architecture. His experiments produced durable, luminous tiles that complemented the sinuous lines of contemporary architects.
Bigot collaborated with figures such as Hector Guimard, reproducing floral motifs in shimmering glazes that still crown Parisian buildings, and he rests now at Cimetière parisien de Bagneux.
