Alexey Zbruev, engraver

1799–1832 (age 33)

Biography

Alexey Zbruev (1799–1832) was a Russian engraver whose artistic career, though brief, contributed to the visual and cultural heritage of the Russian Empire. Working during the early 19th century, he practiced the skilled craft of engraving, an art form essential to the dissemination of images and information in the pre-photographic era.

Zbruev's death at the young age of 33 cut short what might have been a more extensive artistic legacy. He was interred at Danilov Cemetery in Moscow, a burial ground that served as the final resting place for many artists and cultural figures of his time.
