Biography
Alfred Joubaire was a French writer and intellectual whose literary contributions reflected the sensibilities and concerns of the early 20th century. Born in 1895, he came of age during a period of cultural dynamism in France, developing his voice as a writer during the years leading up to and during the First World War.
Joubaire's promising literary career was tragically cut short by his death in 1916 at the age of twenty-one, a casualty of the Great War that claimed so many young talents. He was laid to rest in Fleury-devant-Douaumont National Cemetery, a final resting place shared with countless others who fell in that devastating war.
