Alfred P. Southwick
1826–1898 (age 72)
Biography
Alfred P. Southwick brought his training as a dentist to bear on broader questions of public responsibility, and he is remembered for proposing a more humane method of carrying out the law that would become the electric chair.
He balanced that innovation with a generous spirit toward his community, and his family and colleagues still honor his thoughtful approach to science and compassion at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
