Biography

Allen G. Thurman (1813–1895) represented Ohio in the United States Senate, earning the nickname 'Old Roman' for his reverence for the Constitution and his calm demeanor as he sought reconciliation after the Civil War.

A Democrat who also ran for vice president in 1888, he continued to shape the law through legal commentary, and he now rests at Green Lawn Cemetery.
