Biography
Alonzo Gesner, born in 1842, was among the citizens who helped Salem transition from a frontier settlement into a thriving town. He took pride in attending to the everyday tasks that made communal life possible and welcomed newcomers with the hospitality of a seasoned pioneer.
He cherished the Salem Pioneer Cemetery as a place of reflection, where generations now come to acknowledge the foundations laid by early families. His legacy endures in the calm of that resting place.
