Alva Woods

Biography

Alva Woods, buried at Swan Point Cemetery, devoted his life to education and the church, serving as president of the University of Alabama before returning north to shepherd congregations and classrooms with equal zeal.

He championed moral instruction and liberal learning, molding young minds and earning the grateful respect of students and trustees throughout his long ministry.
