Biography

Amasa Rice Converse, born in 1842, lived through the Civil War years and became a steady presence among friends and relatives along the banks of the river.

When he passed in 1885 those who knew his steady counsel gathered at Riverside Cemetery to mark a life spent easing the burdens of others.
