Biography
Andor Wellisch dreamed in stone and line, bringing a graceful sensibility to Budapest’s architecture that blended respect for tradition with a curiosity about modern form. His buildings and designs often balanced the practical needs of the city with a desire to uplift the people who inhabited them.
Wellisch’s thoughtful approach to urban space and his mentorship of younger architects made a lasting imprint on the capital, and he now rests at Farkasréti Cemetery, among the stewards of Budapest’s built heritage.
