Andrés Bello devoted his life to letters, law, and the cultivation of a national identity, becoming one of the most luminous minds of nineteenth-century Latin America.
As professor, diplomat, and author of the celebrated Gramática de la lengua castellana, he shaped the region's legal and educational institutions while mentoring generations of scholars and statesmen.
