Ángel de Saavedra, 3rd Duke of Rivas, was a distinguished Spanish writer and nobleman born in 1791. He combined his aristocratic heritage with a profound commitment to literature, becoming one of the most important literary figures of his generation and a key contributor to Spanish Romanticism.

His literary works earned him recognition throughout Spain and Europe, and he remained influential in cultural and political circles throughout his life. The Duke of Rivas continued his literary endeavors until his death in 1865, and was honored with burial at San Isidro Cemetery, reflecting his prominence in Spanish society.
