Biography
Angel Gerchev (1845-1924) answered the call of the Bulgarian national liberation, earning the respect of his peers for fearlessness and an unwavering sense of justice. As a warrior he stood with the detachments that sought to free the Bulgarian lands and to bring hope to villages that yearned for freedom.
In later years he continued to embody those values in civil society, and today his grave in Central Sofia Cemetery reminds visitors of the sacrifices made for independence.
