Biography
Anna de Noailles brought lyric intensity to the French language, publishing poems, essays, and stories that celebrated joy, sorrow, and the strength of the human spirit; as the first woman admitted to the Académie des Goncourt she opened doors for generations of women writers.
She welcomed up-and-coming artists into her salon, supported humanitarian causes, and now rests at Père Lachaise, where her luminous verse and generous patronage continue to inspire readers.
