Anna Eliot’s long life spanned much of the eighteenth century and into the Regency, and she devoted herself to preserving the steadiness of family life even as London changed around her.

The Hanover Square congregation knew her as someone who upheld neighbourly kindness, and she is commemorated there among the quiet pews where she once worshipped.
