Biography
Anna Ticho was born in Brno, Moravia, and arrived in Jerusalem in 1912, where she opened a drawing school and devoted herself to portraying the city's quiet beauty with delicate lines and atmospheric washes. Her work reflects a lifelong devotion to Jerusalem's streets, ancient walls, and the people she encountered, capturing light and shadow with profound intimacy.
Ticho and her husband, Dr. Avraham Ticho, made their home a gathering place for artists, writers, and scholars, and today the Ticho House preserves her studio and collection as a testament to her enduring influence on Israeli art.
