Biography

Anne Judah was born in 1779 and lived during the formative years of British colonial presence in India. She was part of the early European community in Calcutta, experiencing firsthand the establishment and growth of British institutions and society in the subcontinent.

Judah died in 1808 at the age of twenty-nine, and was interred at South Park Street Cemetery. Her life, though brief, reflects the experiences of the women who formed the foundation of colonial family life and community in India during this significant historical period.
