Annis Boudinot Stockton (1736–1801) was among the first American women poets to publish widely, offering verse that celebrated liberty and reflected the personal faith that sustained her in revolutionary times.

Her friendships with Christ Church, Philadelphia, parishioners helped to bridge literary and civic circles, affirming that women's voices were part of the republic's moral fabric.
