Biography

Anson Morrill brought a sharp business mind and a steady moral compass to Maine's civic life, first as a successful merchant and then as a voice for temperate, practical governance during the state's midcentury transformations.

As governor he promoted fiscal prudence and a responsive state government, later continuing his service in the U.S. House, and his prudence and integrity are remembered at Forest Grove Cemetery.
