Biography
Antal Hekler was a noted classical archaeologist and university teacher who introduced generations of students to the art and architecture of ancient Greece and Rome, publishing influential works on Roman portraiture and the iconography of classical sculpture.
He also played a key role in curating the antique collections of Hungarian museums and in raising scholarly standards through the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, leaving a legacy that is commemorated at Fiume Road Graveyard.
