Biography
Anthony Eickhoff emigrated from Westphalia and, as an editor and writer for German-language newspapers, chronicled the city he called home while defending the interests of fellow immigrants.
He went on to serve in municipal and state posts, bringing careful research and a love of learning to the governance of New York's neighborhoods, and his contributions are preserved in the memory of Green-Wood Cemetery.
