Biography

Antoine Pihan (1810–1879) was a French typographer whose career reflected the importance of printing and typography in nineteenth-century intellectual and cultural life. As a specialist in his craft, he contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and literature during a period of expanding literacy and publishing in France.

His long career spanned nearly seven decades, during which he witnessed the evolution of printing technologies and their impact on French society. He was honored with burial in Père Lachaise Cemetery.
