Armistead Thomson Mason

Biography

Armistead Thomson Mason (1787-1819) represented Virginia in the young republic, serving on the state legislature and in the U.S. Senate as he sought to give voice to the people of his native commonwealth and to the ideals of the Constitution.

His passionate patriotism and willingness to defend his beliefs remain part of his memory, and he is recalled as a figure who honored the bonds of family and civic duty even in the turbulence of political life.
