Arnold Schoenberg

Biography

Arnold Schoenberg became one of Vienna's most daring musical minds, pushing the language of tonality toward expressionistic extremes while documenting his theories on harmony, counterpoint and the broader aesthetics of modern art in essays that earned him the label of writer as well as composer.

He taught at the academy, guided students both in Europe and later in the United States, and throughout his life remained committed to the ideal that new sound worlds could reflect the restless spirit of his age.
