Arsenius (Zhadanovsky)

1874–1937 (age 63)

Biography

Arsenius (Zhadanovsky) was an Eastern Orthodox priest who dedicated his life to religious ministry and spiritual guidance. His priesthood spanned a period of dramatic change and challenge for the Orthodox Church in Russia, as the Soviet state increasingly restricted religious practice.

Arsenius was executed at the Butovo firing range in 1937, one of thousands of clergy members who suffered martyrdom during the Great Purge's systematic persecution of the Church and its servants.
