Biography
Sir Arthur Fanshawe entered the Royal Navy as a boy, serving through the Napoleonic Wars and building a reputation for steadiness and intelligence in command, eventually rising to flag rank and overseeing stations across the empire.
His later years found him engaged with naval administration and the mentoring of officers, ensuring that the traditions of discipline he upheld endured, and he is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery among other officers of the service.
