Biography
Arthur Young (1741–1820) was a writer whose pen tirelessly chronicled the rural life and agricultural improvements of his age, guiding generations to greater understanding of the land. His observations combined practical detail with a poet’s eye, and he became a trusted interpreter of the countryside.
His tomb chest, six metres south of the chancel of All Saints Church, marks the place where visitors may honor his pursuit of knowledge and the lasting legacy of the fields he helped to describe.
