Biography
Aşık Şem-i was an Ottoman writer and poet who lived during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was part of the aşık tradition, a form of folk poetry and music that was central to Ottoman popular culture and literary expression.
His contributions to Ottoman literature reflected the voice of common people and the rich oral traditions of the empire. He was honored with burial at the Mevlâna Museum, a site of significant spiritual and cultural importance in Konya.
