Augustus Burnham Shute (1851-1906) built a life centered on honesty and quiet industry, always willing to mentor younger residents of his Pine Grove neighborhood.

His steady presence, warm hospitality, and respect for tradition remain in the memories of those who knew him, and he rests now at Pine Grove Cemetery.
