Biography

Augustus Octavius Bacon, born 1839 in Georgia, studied law and emerged as a dedicated public servant during a time of rebuilding. He carried the perspectives of his state to the national stage with a determined voice and a calm demeanor.

From 1895 until his death in 1914, he represented Georgia in the United States Senate, where he chaired committees and sought to translate the needs of his constituents into thoughtful legislation.
