Biography
The Báb, born in 1819 as a merchant in Shiraz, surprised his contemporaries by proclaiming in 1844 a spiritual awakening destined to reshape Persian society. His teaching, focused on the imminent appearance of a promised one, drew multitudes and sparked both hope and upheaval.
Despite imprisonment and eventual execution in 1850, he left behind writings that continue to inspire, and his remains now rest in honor beneath the golden cupola of the Shrine of the Báb.
