Banastre Tarleton

1754–1833 (age 79)

Biography

Banastre Tarleton, born in 1754, was a British cavalry officer whose daring leadership during the American Revolutionary War brought both acclaim and controversy as he pursued British aims with vigor.

He later served as a Member of Parliament and remained engaged in public life, and his final rest in St. Mary Magdalene Churchyard invites reflection on the complex chapters of his service.
