Biography

Barbour Lewis, born in 1818, became a cherished presence in the Colfax area, where his generosity and measured counsel eased the burdens of those around him. He balanced family responsibilities with a sincere desire to better his town, often aiding neighbors without expectation.

His death in 1893 left a void among those who admired his patience and willingness to serve; the calm dignity he modeled continues to inspire visitors to Colfax Cemetery.
