Biography

Barnes Wallis (1887-1979) was an engineer whose imaginative designs, including the revolutionary bouncing bomb, combined technical brilliance with a deep sense of duty to his country.

He now lies at the Church of St Lawrence in Effingham, where admirers celebrate the lasting contributions he made to science and the preservation of peace.
