Biography

Barney Hill (1922-1969) worked as a United States postal worker while also serving as an engaged father and husband; he kept faith with his Kingston community and in the broader struggles of African Americans to be heard and respected in public life.

He and his wife, Betty, were thrust into the spotlight after their accounts of an alleged extraterrestrial encounter, and despite facing skepticism he remained dignified, opening a sometimes difficult public conversation about experiences that challenged conventional ideas of the unexplained.
