Biography

Bartley Campbell, born in 1843, pursued the theater with an imaginative spirit and a sharp sense of humanity. As a playwright he brought relatable characters to the stage, and his work reflected a deep empathy for the hopes and challenges of everyday people.

He passed in 1888 and is remembered at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery for the stories he shared and the laughter and tears he elicited from audiences during a vibrant, if brief, career.
