Biography

Baruch Placzek was a naturalist and valued member of Brno's Jewish community from 1834 to 1922. His long life and scientific pursuits reflected the intellectual contributions of Central European Jewry during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Placzek's work as a naturalist exemplified the engagement of Jewish scholars in the scientific and intellectual life of their era. He remains an important figure in both the history of science and the memory of Brno's Jewish community.
