Ben Hendricks witnessed the shift from the Reconstruction era into the modern age, and he responded to rapid change with a calm sense of citizenship, offering practical counsel and maintaining trust among his neighbors.

He spent his later years in the Flushing area and is buried nearby in Flushing Cemetery, where friends still honor the reliability he brought to both work and friendship.
