Benjamin C. Truman (1835–1916) lived through decades of national change yet remained a source of calm leadership to those nearby, encouraging education and charitable work wherever he could.

He earned a reputation for fairness and quiet strength, and after his passing he was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, where his example continues to be remembered.
