Benjamin Fleischer

1820–1894 (age 74)

Biography

Benjamin Fleischer (born 1820) pursued his theological studies with the intention of serving the scattered Protestant communities of the Bohemian countryside, and upon ordination he embraced the pastoral needs of Rovečné and its environs. He labored to sustain the congregational life, teaching catechism, organizing charitable support, and lending encouragement to families during the upheavals that accompanied the industrial age.

He ended his days in 1894 as a respected spiritual father whose gentle sermons, calm presence, and personal kindness were treasured by parishioners; his friends continue to visit the Protestant cemetery in Rovečné to honor the memory of his long ministry.
